Severe Weather Preparedness
- Know Before you go: Colorado weather can change in an instant. Know the forecast before you go out, and keep your eye out for changing conditions.
- Stay on Top of the Weather: Turn on notifications of severe weather on your phone so that alerts can reach when needed.
- Have a Plan: Plan on going to a safe place during a storm. Pick a safe room in your home such as a basement, storm cellar or an interior room on the lowest floor with no windows. Communicate that plan so that the entire family knows where to go.
- Practice Your Plan: Practice for severe weather so that there is no confusion when a severe storm or Tornado arises.
- Prepare Your Home: Monitor the trees nearby your house, taking special care of old or dead branches that could be fall down in a storm. Keep trees and branches trimmed near your house.
